The cottage was probably a fisherman's home at one time and has been totally renewed from floors to ceiling with new furniture and appliances, all in great condition, clean and very comfortable for the 7 of us. The view down the 1/4 mile white sand beach from the porch is spectacular and the beach was practically our own private resort as few others used it. It was a good location for relaxation, beach walking, and also for day trips to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, Liverpool and the Seaside Adjunct of Kejimkujik National Park (a must-see with amazing seascape and seals). Our Atlantic Canada cottage rental is a seasonal operation. Our Nova Scotia  ‘Cottage by the Sea’ is available from May through October each year and is located in the small fishing village of South West Port Mouton, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The village is in the heart of one of the most spectacular recreational areas in the province, known as ‘Coastal Queens’. There are several provincial parks, one national park, at least a dozen white sandy beaches, a number of popular paddling routes, two heritage lighthouse parks, several bird sanctuaries, a number of important birding destinations and miles of groomed hiking trails, all within a 30 minute drive of the oceanfront cottage rental. There are three bedrooms, two bedrooms have double beds and one bedroom has two single beds. There is a daybed in the library and a sofa bed in the living room. The beachfront cottage has been extensively renovated and most of the furnishings are new. The oceanfront cottage has two, three-piece bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs), a kitchen, a separate dining area, a woodstove and electric heat. The living room has an expansive view of the sandy beach (about 150 feet from the cottage) and several small islands just off the coast. The beach cottage also includes a propane barbecue, a picnic table, a new deck and four yellow ‘Adirondack’ chairs (that can be purchased locally). The long, horseshoe, sandy beach with its spectacular dunes is the most striking feature of the property. Guests have access to the beach and shoreline through a small orchard across the road. This spectacular Nova Scotia beach is the perfect spot for a family picnic, a personal birding adventure (you may see a piping plover), a moonlit swim or an early morning walk after breakfast. And don’t forget the camera! The sunsets are a photographer’s dream!
